The box office opens on Sunday 8th of September for GEDS's next show, Ghosts, by Henrik Ibsen. GEDS is offering GAOS's members a 10% discount until the 17th of September. Code is gaos24.

There's still time to sign up to sing with the GAOS Choral Group in the 2024 Christmas Carol evening, to be held on the 18th of December in Founex. If you've already signed up, thanks and apologies for this message - but for those of you who have forgotten, please send a message to Carolyn Hornfeld, we'd still love to have you!! It will be great fun, with Chelsea at the helm and good Christmas music.

You can now register to attend one of the two events entitled Life Rolls Along, a Musical Evening of songs from musicals by Stephen Sondheim, woven through excerpts from the memoir You Could Make this Place Beautiful by Maggie Smith. The piece takes us on a journey through a woman’s life (“the girl/wife/poet”) and the evolution of her relationship with “the boy/husband/father of the children”, interspersed with songs by Sondheim.

This event is free with a retiring collection. Proceeds will be donated to the Sondheim Society, a charity dedicated to the promotion of musical theatre.

On Wednesday 11th September, we will gather at GAOS HQ around some drinks and nibbles, with GEDS and Scouts members, from 17h45 to 19h30, to share memories of and honour our dear friend Mark Clayton. If you haven't already, please sign up here before Monday to let us know if you will attend.

We would like to invite GAOS members to sing "Climb Every Mountain" together, and plan a few other musical surprises. Sheet music here.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of our Youth Group, we present Twenty, a show written and directed by Frou-Frou, with Philippe Berthoud as Musical Director.

What is it about, you ask? It's the dress rehearsal, the eve of the first performance, and anything can, and does, happen. You will see 20 show-stoppers, from the various shows performed by the Youth Group over the years, including West Side Story, The Addams Family, Hairspray, High School Musical, and many others.

Our fabulous cast has been working hard over the summer to bring this show to our audiences, and now they need your help. Here's how:

- Buy tickets. Come celebrate 20 years of history and cheer the future stars of GAOS.

- Spread the word. Share the flyer, share this message, share the link to the WRS interview with Jo and Deyan.

- Come support our cast in their flash mobs, this Saturday, 24th August, at 15h and 16h in the Chavanne de Bogis shopping centre, and at 17h and 18h in the Signy shopping centre.

Hi everyone!

Autumn is soon upon us as the summer is drawing to a close, activities are starting up, and YOU can now sign up for the Choral Group 2024 Christmas Carol evening! All singers are welcome, especially MEN (hey, what else is new!!). We need you, and you need to stay in voice for the next GAOS show!! We'd love to have you join us.

The concert will be on Wednesday 18 December in the Salle Communale de Founex. The first rehearsal is at GAOS HQ on Monday 16 September, 7h00 p.m. - 8h30 p.m., and following Mondays at the same time. Our talented Chelsea Middleton is our director, so we know it will be fun and challenging, with some wonderful Christmas music!

On 4 September, at 14h at GAOS HQ, we will have a meeting and 1st rehearsal for the Fringe production of the Roaring 20s, to be performed on the 24th and 25th of January 2025.

We would be happy if you could come. As not many people have signed up so far, there is a danger that the Fringe project will die. That would be a pity, after the five years of success of this great idea.

If you attend this gathering, please bring the music and/or lyrics you'll find in this Dropbox.

Sunday 8th September, starting at 10h30 from the GAOS Barn. You will receive a set of cryptic clues, which will lead you around the Genevan countryside, taking pictures and collecting information, in order to finally arrive at a mystery destination where a barbecue will be awaiting you. Please bring a salad or dessert and something to drink, meat will be provided.

You can sign up here. Indicate whether you have a car and how many spaces, or whether you need a spot in somebody else's car, and let us know if you will be attending the barbecue.

Have you been asking yourself what GAOS is planning after the summer? Wonder no more! Here's an overview of what's coming:

- 21st and 22nd September 2024: Life Rolls Along, a Sondheim musical evening, arranged by Aurélie Laporte and Özge Tunçalp, with Empi Mörn as musical director. Venue: HQ.

- 6th-8th and 12th-15th December 2024: Aladdin, panto directed by Carrie Douglass-Rose, assisted by Caroline Crow, with Chelsea Middleton as musical director. Venue: Théâtre de Marens (Nyon).

- 18th December 2024: Choral Group Carol Concert, co-conducted by Chelsea Middleton and Lorna Donkin. Venue: Salle Communale de Founex. This year, we will have a Christmas Market, more details to follow.

- 24th-25th January 2025: The Roaring 20s, Fringe show, directed by Wolfgang and Annette Schutt. Venue: HQ. Rehearsals for this show will take place on Wednesday afternoons, 14h-16h, at HQ. Here's a list of the musical numbers included in the show. Interested in taking part? Contact Wolfgang by the 10th of August!

- 29th May-1st June 2025: Jesus Christ Superstar, directed by Duncan Lally, assisted by Sarah Irwin, with Chelsea Middleton as musical director. Venue: Théâtre de Marens (Nyon). Would you like to be part of the production team? Get in touch with Heather Lally, the production secretary.

- Summer 2025 (dates and venue to be confirmed): Les Misérables, school edition, Youth Show, directed by Frou-Frou.
