The GAOS Choral Group Christmas concert on 14 December was a wonderful boost to the holiday spirit for members and friends. Choral conductor Lorna Donkin and pianist Rebecca MacDonald presented a programme nicely balanced between challenging festive music sung by the chorus, and nine well-known carols for the audience to join in singing. Guests were welcomed into the twinkling noel decor created by the GAOS Events Team in the Salle de Spectacles in Founex. The very sociable atmosphere was warmed by spiced hot wine served by the GAOS Committee, and plenty of mince pies and other home-made treats brought by chorus and audience members. Leaving donations of CHF 950 were offered for the leprosy treatment project of a former GAOS member in Nepal.
The Choral Group’s next concert, this spring, will be Joseph Haydn’s Nelson Mass, as a joint concert with the Foundation Choir under the baton of Bill Heckel.
