In true pantomime tradition, good triumphed over evil in this year’s GAOS sold-out* pantomime Sleeping Beauty. What a show! First-time GAOS directors were Francesca Buttle and April Dalton with Andrew Close arranging and orchestrating all the music and conducting the band. The cast included 14 principals, 16 adult chorus members, and 20 in the junior chorus. Plus at least 60 more talented people working backstage, building and painting spectacular castles, designing and sewing costumes, etc. While many of those involved have long experience with GAOS, many were new members and others were working in skill areas new to them.
*25-27 November and 1-4 December. Eight of the nine performances were completely filled, with only a handful of seats remaining for Thursday. We sold 3,727 tickets.
