At a reunion of former "Follies" performers in a theatre about to be torn down, ex-showgirls, their escorts, and the impresario who brought them all together meet to "glamorize the old days, stumble through a song or two, and lie about ourselves a little". Over the course of many songs, dances, and drinks, two couples - friends (or more) from the old days - must come to terms with their marriages, their pasts, and the choices they've made in life. Woven throughout the party is a fabulous score rich with some of Sondheim's most famous numbers, a sparkling celebration of the best of Broadway.

Dans un théâtre voué à la démolition, conviés par leur ancien impresario, quelques artistes d'autrefois se retrouvent pour célébrer leurs heures de gloire passée. Tout ce joli monde boit, chante, danse, ment un peu, si peu…
Au cours des festivités, deux couples, jadis amis (et peut-être plus) reviennent sur leurs passés, leurs mariages et enfin leurs choix de vie.
Le tout se déroule au son des airs les plus fameux de Sondheim, dans l'ambiance scintillante de Broadway.
