This hillarious musical farce, the first musical written by Stephen
Sondheim, was set in Ancient Rome on a spring evening circa 200 years before the Christian era, and, as
is his wont, the thespian Prologus bid us welcome to his temple - wherein are worshipped the gods
of tragedy and comedy. Alas, tragedy had to wait, for it was "COMEDY TONIGHT...!".
The performances took place in an informal GAOS style with thirst-quenching drinks and scrumptious
food served either before the performance or during an extended interval.
